Employment tribunals

An employment tribunal is a type of court. It makes decisions in disputes around employment law.

A worker might make a claim to an employment tribunal if they think an employer has not followed the law. They must first notify Acas.

There are time limits for employment tribunal claims. You must notify Acas within the time limit – this is usually 3 months minus 1 day.

If you have time, you can try to raise and deal with problems at work informally.
